What Happens at a Consultation?

The Dietitian
will discuss your medical history, your GP referral, blood tests, food habits and your expectations and goals.  Your weight, height and waist circumference may be measured.  If you are uncomfortable with this, please do not hesitate to let your Dietitian know.

The Dietitian may then discuss your medical condition and how food and nutrition may affect it.  You and the Dietitian will then make a plan based on your individual goals and preferences.  This may include education, diet, strategies or other supportive activities.

How Many Visits Do I Need?

There are no set number of visits required, however, we often recommend review appointments on a regular basis.  In many cases we hope to make changes to life long habits and we find review appointments achieve better long term results.

For chronic conditions, it is recommended to have monthly review appointments for the first three months.  Thereafter, three six monthly reviews and then finally 12 month reviews.  With this regime many people have developed excellent eating habits that support a long term healthier and happier lifestyle.
